<Inquisitr=">Inquisitr</a>"> Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe have called off their lawyers when it comes to blocking Blac Chyna from legally using her soon-to-be married name, Angela Renee Kardashian, for business. Apparently, it was all just a big misunderstanding, according to Kris Jenner, who explained that their team of lawyers was just being extra diligent. Even though Chyna has, at least temporarily, made peace with the Kardashians over her upcoming name change, her trademark request still has not been granted.
As the
previously reported, Kardashian lawyers were all over a trademark filing from Blac Chyna asking to use her upcoming legal name, Angela Renee Kardashian, for entertainment and business purposes. In the filing, some pretty nasty things were said about what might happen if Blac Chyna were allowed to use the Kardashian name on social media and for appearances, including the allegation that Chyna was “deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity” of the Kardashian name.
Documents filed in order to block the Blac Chyna name change also said that Rob Kardashian’s fiance should not be able to use the Kardashian name because the family brand would “suffer damage including irreparable injury to their reputation and goodwill.”
While the whole attempt to block Chyna from using the Angela Renee Kardashian moniker seems pretty petty, it turns out that it was all a misunderstanding (or so they’d like everyone to think.) According to
Kris Jenner has already put in a call to Blac Chyna to apologize for her legal team. According to Kris, the Kardashian legal team took it upon themselves to put a roadblock up in terms of Blac Chyna becoming a Kardashian for business purposes. When it comes to Chyna changing her name because she is married to Rob, there is nothing the family can do about it. However, when it comes to changing her name for business purposes and so she can use it to benefit from the family’s clout, they can argue that a trademark should not be granted. In Blac Chyna’s case, Kris Jenner has said that her legal team can back off. In this case, they don’t need to go all out in an attempt to stop the trademarking of her new name. That doesn’t mean that Rob and Chyna are about to get what they want either because, according to
