The award-winning Nigerian author is changing the conversation about feminism, especially as it relates to African women. Her 2012 TED talk “We Should All Be Feminists,” was later turned into a book (and some Beyoncé lyrics), and her most recent book,
Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions,
continues her exploration of the subject. She’s also a MacArthur Foundation Genius and an inductee into the 2017 class of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
