Vivienne Tam Mix Fashion and the MetaVerse for Fall23 Runway Show

I attended Vivienne Tam's FW23 Runway show at SPRING STUDIOS. The show had celebrity guests such as Richard Chang from Bling Empire New York (@chairman_chang) and an open bar after-party sponsored by On The Rocks premade cocktail.

Vivienne Tam mixed fashion and metaverse because she wanted to create a bridge so that her customers can learn about the virtual world.

According to L’OFFICIELUSA.com, “The last collection was all about NFTs and bringing the virtual world to the physical world,” says Tam. For her fall collection, she wanted to create a “bridge so that my customers can learn about the virtual world. I found that world was really unlimited to the creativities. I find it very inspiring and no limitations. I can do anything.”

See the recap of the show below.

[The Lede Company] Vivienne Tam, acclaimed Fashion Designer and CFDA member, showcased her New York Fashion Week show with the support of Cyberport and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York this Fall/Winter 2023 season. Built on the theme from her SS23 show in September, Vivienne bridged the physical world and the digital world with her latest collection, “Weaving into the Metaverse.” Inspired by the futuristic utopian vision of a new Hong Kong, a place where Web3, blockchain, gaming worlds and immersive experiences cohabitate and collaborate, Vivienne weaved her physical world with virtual NFTs/PFPs to bring harmony and unite communities. By infusing warmth, depth and history of the fashion world into the virtual world, Vivienne sees interoperability for both the Web3 and our natural world. She transferred new ways to use technology with access to special events and opportunities, giving birth to a new hope of possibilities. This season by connecting the ancient pictograms of China’s earliest language Oracle Bone Script of 12 zodiac symbols alongside various bluechip Web3 NFTs, Vivienne weaved the cradle of civilization into the Metaverse.

"From the beginning of civilization humanity has used pictures to communicate and document our history, now humanity uses pictures to create new currencies, communities, environment and even worlds.” – Vivienne Tam Vivienne is a member of the CyberPort, Hong Kong’s leading Web3 technology incubator, where she sees fashion and technology as the natural yin and yang. “As the Metaverse evolves so too must the virtual worlds evolve by learning how to work, live and play together in the Metaverse.” Vivienne’s word to describe going from one to many metaverses. Vivienne is the first designer to have brought the physical and digital worlds together simultaneously during New York Fashion Week. Vivienne’s Metaverse Show mirrored the physical experience from the red carpet to backstage access to the afterparty. Live portals allowed guests to interact between both worlds together, Breaking the “Fourth Wall”.

The Metaverse show was conceptualized and created by Swan Sit and WOND3R, in collaboration with CyberPort working together with an international team including Luby, Animoca Brands, Hepha, Propy, and Vatom. The Vivienne Tam Fall/Winter 2023 show took place on February 12 at Spring Studios and online in the Metaverse. Notable guests in attendance and wardrobed by the brand include Christine Ko, Zoë Chao, Tati Gabrielle, Laufey, Ari Abdul, Vika Abbyaeva, and Richard Chang.
