Happy Haitian Flag Day!

The Haitian flag has long been a smbol of pride for Haiti. Haitian Flag Day on Friday, May 18, is all about celebrating the culture and heritage of the Haitian flag, which is emblazoned with the country’s coat of arms and the colors red and blue, adopted from the French flag. Haiti gained its independence from colonial rule in 1804, making it the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to do so, and the second republic to defeat a European colonial power in the Americas.

Haitian Flag Day events took place not just in Haiti, but in U.S. cities as well. "The purpose of our 18 May Event is to have people come and enjoy the day, taste the food, listen to the music, and see how joyful our culture and how far our pride has grown," "We want other cultural to experience how much pride we have in our country. We may not be the richest or have the best resources, but when it comes to pride and ability to overcome circumstances Haiti outshines. Our event will have consist of High school Haitian Bands, Fashion show by Haitian Designers, A market of Haitian venders from our Community and Haitian Politicians will be invited to partake in this event.
